Chairman, Association of Banks in Lebanon (ABL)
Dr. Torbey is currently heading the Association of Banks in Lebanon (ABL) after having previously served the same position for four mandates;
He is also the Chairman General Manager of Credit Libanais Group one of the leading banking groups in Lebanon and the region;
He is the Chairman of the World Union of Arab Bankers (WUAB) the leading Arab Professional organization for Arab Bankers and finance professionals;
He is Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Union of Arab Banks (UAB) since May 2007, a Union which Board he chaired for two consecutive mandates from April 2001-2007;
He is the co-founder and first Chairman of the Institut Supérieur d’études bancaires (ISEB) at St Joseph University (Beirut). He was also awarded an Honorary Professor status at the University of Vienna and has numerous publications on various banking, financial and taxation issues;
Dr. Joseph Torbey holds a PhD degree in Law from the University of Lyon (France), and a degree in Public Administration and Business Taxation at the University of Southern California, L.A. (USA).
